Also, at the factory, the same workers do the same job day after day which results in increased productivity and more consistent quality from home to home. The controlled environment of the factory also means the materials used to construct a modular home remain safe and dry throughout the process unlike site built, which can be soaked by rain or snow several times before being completely dried in.

• Because modular homes must be transported from the factory to the home site largely complete and arrive in good condition, it is necessary to bond all wallboards, ceiling boards and floor decking to their respective framing members with a commercial grade adhesive. Modular homes also employ the use of screws, as opposed to nails, in may areas because screws have a much greater holding power. The resulting increase in structural integrity remains with the home throughout its lifetime providing the homeowner with increased protection from storms and damage. FEMA studies following Hurricane Andrew in South Florida, found that modular homes outperformed both HUD and site build homes by a wide margin.
